Privacy Policy
Basketsim Privacy PolicyThis policy says what Basketsim keeps about the people who play it, why, for how long and who can see it. Basketsim is a free, non-commercial revival of the online basketball manager game that ran from 2006. It has no advertising, no analytics and no third-party scripts, and it does not sell or rent anything it keeps. What we keep When you register we ask for a login name, a password, an email address, a club name, a short club name, an arena name, a country and a region, and a confirmation that you are 16 or older. We do not ask for your real name. Your password is stored in a form from which it cannot be read back, not even by us. While you play, the game keeps what you do in it: your club, players and matches, the messages you send, your guestbook entries, club statements and forum posts, and the times of your last login and last activity. Your IP address We keep the address you connect from, together with a record of important actions on your account, to protect accounts and to enforce the Terms of Service. Your full IP address is deleted after 90 days; the rest of that record is kept for up to 12 months. Cookies We use only cookies that the site needs to work: one keeps you logged in and expires after 30 days without a visit, or when you log out; the other helps us prevent fraud and is kept for one year. There are no advertising, tracking or analytics cookies. Who can see what Your email address is seen only by you, on your account page, and by the game's administrators. Other players never see it, not even on your club's page. Your IP address is seen only by moderators. Your login name, your club and everything you write in public parts of the game — the forum, guestbooks, club statements — can be seen by other players. Messages are seen by the people you send them to. Pictures that managers link from other websites, such as club logos and pictures in forum posts, are loaded by your browser from those websites, which can see your IP address when they do. Who keeps it for us We use a small number of service providers to run the game: a hosting provider in Canada, an email delivery provider in the European Union, and a backup storage provider. They may use the data only to provide their service to us. Your rights You can ask to see the data we keep about you, to correct it, to receive a copy of it, or to have your account and personal data deleted. Write to [contact address]. We will answer within 30 days. If you live in the European Union, the GDPR gives you these rights. You can also complain to your data protection authority. Age You must be 16 or older to register. Changes to this policy When this policy changes, the change will be announced on the game's front page, and the date below will change.
